I attached, and then detached a few days ago cuz of WU computation errors. I didn't get a chance to find out.

Sep 9, 2008 Low throughput
We are observing about a half of the expected throughput of the system, without any apparent reasons. WUs are consumed with about a half of the expected rate, while there are not so many errors and rather few deadline misses. We'd appreciate any opinion regarding possible reasons of this issue.

Oct 15, 2008 Merge with grids
We have just allowed BOINC clients from EGEE, Madison Condor pool and our local Condor pool to connect to Superlink@Technion. All the clients belong to fictitious users, all of which are part of the team, called 'Clusters'. You are now able to compare the performance of your computers to the performance of entire pools/grids. Vital statistics of these clients can be now accessed from the homepage.

We have just recovered after a crash of our database, the restored data is dated back to 08:00 UTC, please verify that no data is lost and/or duplicated.

Server stat page says anything is running, but our team stats page here was showing that it was unreachable. You may or may not have problems (and your mileage may vary).

Nov 17, 2008 Results from previous days
Due to the excessive load on the back-end we had to remove the data about all the results that have been crunched in the past two weeks; we are currently working on the solution that will both enable storing the historical data and will not create such a load on our server.

Long time no talk... We have just started a huge (about 2.5 mlns jobs) batch, after fixing most of the glitches we were aware of. We hope to see all our crunchers back. Hope it will run to completion as fast as the previous batch. Happy crunching!

We anounce the very first Superlink challenge!!!! We must finish this batch as fast as possible to show the peak performance of the system. This is a new 2 mlns jobs batch, and we do hope that this time there will be no glitches. The analysis of the previous run will be published soon on our forums.

We didn't survive the recent power failure and lost all the 300,000 results crunched since yesterday.. Restarting everything - I apologize for all the 'not-needed' results from now on - we cannot make use of them at all. It's not only that our power failed, but also our UPS, it was too much for the DB, and the problem was revealed only now.

We have been under DDoS for the last few days, and it turns out that more than 40,000 connections per second were attempted to be established. This caused the Technion authority to decrease the input traffic, and later on close the service altogether. We are back to life now, but our IP has changed, in a hope to escape the DDoS. Nothing is required to be done to keep crunching - your computer will eventually find the way to the server. Hope this incident will be the last one at least until this batch is finished.

Thanks to our contributors this batch is quickly approaching its end. Toward the end of the run we're starting to restrict sending WUs to computers that are known to return the results without the delay. That is why many of you started receiving no-work-sent messages despite the WUs in the queue. I am preparing a new batch, but it will take about 3-4 days. So the mid-end of the next week will be busy again.

The new batch with 3.3 million jobs has just been started. Thanks to all who were patient enough to wait for this batch. We made every effort to fix all the problems encountered during the previous batch, and hope that this time DDoS will not disturb us. This batch is not a challenge but a regular run, but we do hope it will be crunched quickly. Good luck to us all.

The last month marathon is over. About 5 mln jobs were crunched, with much success. In particular, the last batch was extremely successful and we owe a huge THANK YOU to all who participated. We reached the overall effective throughput equivalent to a dedicated cluster of 6,000 CPUs!!!!!! This is far beyond our previous result. Some of the scientific results of the last run are surprising. We will rerun a part of the experiment to make sure the results are correct, and if they are, these are very good news. We will disclose the details if the results are confirmed. We will also open another thread in our scientific forum to discuss the results of these batches. Stay tuned!

We are happy to inform that the system is now crunching the first truly production run performed by geneticists directly from our submission web site without any assistance. See the scientific updates in the forums. The run is about 60,000 WUs, each about 1 hour
