As of today in BOINCStats
SETI Project Ranking against my countrymen
Resident of United States
Position in Country stats 4,334

BOINC Combined ranking against my countrymen
Resident of United States
Position in Country stats 6,886
I just liked the combination of the numbers.

I googled after CafPow! - the drink Abby always has in NCIS (my fav show) - on different fan-boards they say it could be "Hawaiian Punch" or "Red Mountain Dew" - no wonder that I didn't know "Code Red"...

Okay labbie, I have 1590 credits pending since 5/25, whoever is running the verifier either has their computer shut down or they are some slow units. looks like we will be trading back and forth for awile. keep in mind I have only been at Einstein for about three weeks and one of my laptops is running SETI exclusively.....

I have 5 computers, mostly old and slow (one is a P-II 300!). 2 are running Einstein exclusively and the other 3 SETI. I started back on Einstein about 4 weeks ago after a 2 or 3 month layoff. During that time I got my SETI RAC up to 1750.

And until I get the swamp cooler running most are shut down during the heat of the day. But I have no doubt after looking at your PCs you will eventually win the RAC battle.

I just turned 1465 on SETI. Technically they show me as running it since Dec. 2005 but for some reason which I do not recall I never started back then but have only been running SETI since about a week before the big THUMPER crash.....Seems to take forever to build credits for SETI. Einstein has been giving me some huge files, the last two on LAPTOP I were 190 hrs each, the average has been 113.

I was splitting both Laptops between SETI and Einstein but now run LAPTOP I exclusively Einstein and LAPTOP II is SETI only. If the credits are accepted right away I will be nudging you aside again in about 45 minutes....;) :smt021

I've got one ready to complete in less than 30 minutes.

And two more in 30 hours or so. But I have no pending.

Are you using the optimized apps on SETI or just the stock apps? If you're using stock, the optimized apps will just about double your output. :smt003

If you don't know what they are, then you aren't using them. Only SETI has them.

Optimized apps are optimized for the type of computer you have and what it can run, MMX, SSE, SSE2, etc.

For your SETI PC that is listed (Core-2) you should need this one. You'll need 7-Zip to unpack it. Once it is unpacked there will be a folder named "Files to install" under the KWSN etc. folder containing 3 files.

Close BOINC completely by either selelcting File | Exit from the BOINC manager or right-clicking on the BOINC icon in the tray and selecting Exit.

Copy the 3 files to the C:\PROGRAM FILES\BOINC\PROJECTS\setiathome.berkeley.edu folder and restart BOINC.

That's all it takes. To confirm that the optimized apps are running, when BOINC restarts go to the Messages tab. A few lines down you will see a line that says "using anonymous platform".

The link I provided above to the optimized apps is the version without graphics capabilities. If you want the graphics, use this link. The Files To Install folder may have more than 3 files in this case, I've never used the graphics version because the graphics slow down the crunching.

There is also an auto-installer version that determines which version is correct for your PC, it takes longer to do the install (and requires MS .NET) but does the copying of the correct version for you.

The auto-installer can be found here (Graphics version) or here (non graphics version).

You might want to consider running your cache (clicking on No New Tasks in the Projects tab) before installing just in case something untoward happens, but I've never had any problems if BOINC is not running.

If you are unsure of your computer skills or just want to make sure of the correct version, I recommend using the auto-installer.

Steven, hold off just a bit, I've asked a question regarding which app is really for your machine in the Number Crunching thread since your machine is newer than any I've optimized before. I'll get back to you ASAP.
